No price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself

Friedrich Nietzsche

I was born in a small village called Mollerussa in the province of Lleida, Spain. Since I was a child, I have been passionate about sports like football and tennis. Studies were not my main motivation, but I soon understood that it was the only way to build something in the future. Medicine and science attracted my attention during high school. However, after finishing it, I started my adventure at university to study for a degree in human nutrition and dietetics, and it was there that I realised that research was what really motivated me. I decided to specialise in nutrition and metabolism and did my Ph.D. in biomedicine. For five years, I researched fatty liver disease clinically and experimentally by studying energy and lipid metabolism in organs such as the liver and adipose tissue.

It was always clear to me that I would be a man of the world, so I decided to start my professional career outside my country. After some consideration, Sweden seemed to me to be a great country not only to do research but also to live in. That is why it was my number 1 choice. With great enthusiasm and excitement, I decided to join a group like Jorge Ruas' and here I am. I aim to study small vesicles (exosomes) secreted by skeletal muscle to answer the following questions: What is the biological material they transport? Where do they go? What effect do they exert on the target organ? Is the biological material they transport different in pathological conditions? Is it a valuable tool as a biomarker for disease diagnosis?
