I was born in Santarém (more or less like Uppsala from Stockholm). I did my Pharm.D. at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Lisbon. In 2009 I started my PhD in Biochemistry in the liver in the same Faculty. Then in October 2013, I moved to Stockholm for my postdoctoral studies at Karolinska Institutet. During my postdoc, I was also involved in classes at the Department in Physiology and Pharmacology to Medicine, Biomedicine and Dentistry students. Since 2018 I started a position at Karolinska Institutet as Assistant Professor (Biträdande Lektor) with 50% teaching and 50% research, where I can embrace both of my passions, teaching and research. On my free time, I am part of the direction of Lusitânia APE, an association that organises different activities to encourage interaction between people and promote the Portuguese culture in Stockholm.
